I use a Nylon Sport Wallet. Really thin, even with 6 cards and some cash in it. Like to have my wallet in the front pocket so I’m never sitting on it. Only problem is that it is a tight fit for the new Canadian bills. Still better than anything else I’ve found, for my needs.

I don’t like the style, but after reading more about the difficulty of shaping the stainless steel material, the flat panels are understandable. Overall it’s starting to sound like a decent contractor’s truck: durable body, low lifetime cost, lots of power, towing capacity, secure storage, and features like the air compressor and power outlets.…[Read more]

That makes sense if the opening isn’t that wide, but for wider openings this hardware could be useful. I like that the bifold isn’t left sticking straight out into the room, as well as the access to the full width. Thanks f…[Read more]

I may be interested in some of those add-on accessories though for some of my Bosch stuff to work on my existing Festool and Makita rails. Anybody know if the accesories work on competitor rails?Everything I’ve read indicates the answer is no. Festool and Makita are fairly interchangeable, and Bosch to some extent with Mafell…

Yeah, it’s a pleasure using a well-designed tool for its intended purpose, but it’s satisfying when you figure out a way to make do with what you have.

Not sure if it indicates tons of interest, or low production capability. So far there don’t seem to be any companies doing hobbyist laser cutters, CNC routers, 3-d printers, etc. that are capable of high volume production. Still very niche tools.
The Dremel is an upgrade / re-label of another company’s product, AFAIK. -

A friend asked me to install a new towel bar while I was visiting. No tools with me, so I had to make do with what was there. Unfortunately no hex key the right size to loosen the existing bar. But there was a pair of slip joint pliers, so I found a paper clip, bent the end at 90 degrees, and with a little futzing got the allen screws out.…[Read more]

Funny you should say that. Bosch owns Dremel, and:

Last time I’d checked on the Toolnut site the ship date for the Bosch track saw had slipped from Oct 31 to Dec 15. Now the date is Dec 26.

Nothing being closed in Ottawa. There is a Rona converted to Lowes that’s barely 5km from another Lowes, and it’s never busy. Thought it might be on the list.

I hadn’t heard of Diablo SandNet, though there is an earlier thread about it.

I’ve used Abranet and like it.

Added the Bluetooth remote to my Festool CT26 vac. It’s nice to have a switch at the working end of the hose – often wished I did when I was up on a ladder or in a confined space. And it readies the vac for use with a cordless track saw.
The receiver module installs in an unused (in N. America) bay. Takes minutes to do.
The remote has a rubber…[Read more] -

Checked the Toolnut site and the shipping date for the Bosch GKT13-225L is now Dec 15th instead of Oct 31. Too bad, Bosch will miss the holiday season. It would be a good move, I think, for them to get out some info on the nature of the delay rather than allowing the current uncertainty to continue.
I’ll probably get the Makita cordless this weekend. -

Using the Bosch FL12 light a lot in the past couple of days. Electrician had the power off while working on the panel, and I wanted to do something in the furnace room, so stuck the FL12 on the ductwork in various positions to get light where I needed. Later had to check something in a joist space above a finished ceiling, and the access hole was…[Read more]
