Phil replied to the topic V-25 What did you do in the shop site today in the forum Talk Around the Job Site 3 years, 11 months ago
I’m back in the shop almost every day – you folks at bethepro, my wife, and some ham radio buddies got me through the worst of it. If you have to ask ‘What?’, you can search my posts 🙂 .
I’ve been doing some stuff for some shooters recently. Just blocks to hold shells; nothing extravagant. Wooden (cedar) blocks, with 14 to 50 holes the…[Read more]

My wife was saying she would pin stripe it (she used to work at a body shop) and we joked about the glitter – figured we could wait until body glitter goes on…[Read more]

Yaaaayyy!!! I got my leg!
To all that have put up with this saga, my many thanks.
I get to wear the knee a little more each day. Right now I still have to use a walker to keep my knee from going out from under me. About 5 months of disuse and it’s weak.
This ‘final version’ is done out of carbon fiber and assembled much like fiberglas is…[Read more]

I ‘learned’ using acid brushes – the kind you spread flux with.
They work, but so does a finger.
Syringes work really well, too, if you have a source – you can have a couple dilutions made up and they keep for weeks. The ones with Luer Lock fittings will take 1/8″ Tygon tubing (with fittings) that is great for getting in tight places. They can…[Read more]

What did it feel like?
Hmmm.
Kind of like stilts, but different. With stilts there are two anchor points for stability and steering – your foot and hand. Maybe more like a pogo stick in slow motion.Getting a feel for where the foot and ground come together is a fir…[Read more]

To everyone that has thought of what’s going on here and said a prayer over the last few months, there’s good news!
I took my first step with my new leg.
This is the ‘test socket’ and I get my permanent one next Friday.

Phil replied to the topic Sriracha ! in the forum Talk Around the Job Site 5 years ago
I like Sriracha and most other pepper sauces – in small quantities.
Here in South Texas I’ve seen folks that may as well be eating cardboard. With the amount of whatever pepper they have, they certainly cannot taste the food it’s on.

Up at 0400 and into Houston (a couple hours away) today to see my surgeon and the Infectious Disease doc.
Both report favorably, hooray, hooray.
Stitches may be out next week in leg. Projected three more weeks IV antibiotics twice a day. Then it’s working toward my prosthesis.
Long, but happy day. - Load More
