Ive always thought it was interesting to how manufacturers and distributors sites are organized and what content they display.Do you tend to use manufacturer or distributor sites differently? Is one used to purchase products on one type and the other to learn about new and existing products or do you everything on one site? And do you prefer to…[Read more]

I have another specific metal drilling question for you all. Do you prefer using short metal drill bits for drilling in sheet metal or do standard length bits do the job just fine? Do you see a need for short metal drill bits? …I guess thats 2 questions.

Joe Sainz replied to the topic Which power tool brands do you prefer? in the forum Brand and Manufacturer Discussion 7 years, 1 month ago
This is great stuff. I love seeing what others prefer for each tool type.
To expand on the question. What do you think about each brand in general? What comes to mind when you think about each brand? Does one stand for innovation, while others signify quality and best overall value?
And don’t worry, nothing will be held against you 🙂 I…[Read more]

I thought it’d be interesting to create a topic asking a simple, yet maybe not so simple to answer question about power tool brands.
Which power tool brands do you prefer and why? Does it depend on the tool or application? How has your preference for power tool brands changed over the years? Which brands do you believe are going to be the…[Read more]

Dirty – Thanks for the feedback. Lots of good stuff in there! I’ve never looked into the environmental info about the steel studs that I use – I’ll check into that sometime, but it’s not the typical conversation […]

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on jobsite safety. I feel like this is a topic that is going to continue to see more air time.
Do you tend to do the bare minimum and just meet OSHA’s standards or do you go above and beyond to protect your yourself? Are you ever forced to compromise when deciding between jobsite safety and productivity…[Read more]

What do you all think about metal drilling with impact drivers? Have you ever tried to use a 1/4″ hex shank drill bit in an impact driver – would this even be preferred over a standard drill for metal drilling?
If anyone uses their impact driver for metal drilling I’d love to see pictures of it in use and the bits you use, especially if you do…[Read more]

Thanks for the comment Mike. I made an edit to the article about using a chop saw for cutting metal studs in bulk. Does anyone else have a thought on this?

Anyone should be able to have the yellow box pop up – as long as you allow javascript. It actually takes a few seconds sometimes as the information is loaded when you hover over it, so your computer is requesting it from our server (in Chicago) – and it has to be sent back to your computer.

Ok – I just turned on something new for the site. I call it the “Dirty thanks”. You can “hover” (hold your mouse over) to see who has said thanks too. This was actually a ton of work to build, but I think you guys will like it. In the future we might be able to give you a few points for thanking, and give some to the person being thanked also.…[Read more]
