I was active here a year or two back. Left to rep for a hardware company. Found out the service rep gig was not for me. I got the chance to get back to custom home building and jumped back in. Just wanted to say Hi

Around here the companies do pretty good job. If you hit something not marked then it is between the marker and the utility company as to who pays. You don’t call and try to “sneak on in” and hit something and you might as well just sign over your company to the utilties.

Sorry I dropped the ball on starting a new thread. Wife’s disability is causing me to have to pick up a little more slack than usual. I have a project that is $25K over budget and getting worse. I also don’t have anything lined up for after this project because the largest local employer just announced large layoffs.
So the only quote I have at…[Read more]

I don’t have any specific pics of the lamps but I will go through my holiday pics and see if any are in the background so you can get some idea.

If I could have done that well with the sharpie I would have been happy. I barely get a soup spoon to my mouth with out a jig or guide of some kind.

My Uncle makes lamps out of old hand pumps. He mounts the pump to a base and then takes the push rod out and replaces it with a brass conduit for the electrical wires and to mount the light fixture on. The size of the pump determines if it is a desk lamp or floor lamp.

I Like the concept but they do look spindly to me. I might feel different if I saw one in person and got to “lay hands” on it. I haven’t had that chance yet.

I have used Renaissance wax on black powder firearms and it is wonderful stuff. I have also used a product called Ballistol. It really works well for rust prevention. It comes in either liquid or aerosol. It was developed by the Germans back during the world wars.

PS-41 the 12v impact driver. My old 12v driver batteries bit the dust and even the after mkt ones were almost 3/4 as much as a new driver with batteries.

You have confirmed my suspicions. This mumbo jumbo they have pulled has eliminated Dewalt from buy list. I don’t like chicanery and subterfuge.

I was comparing drivers today at the store. All was well until I got to the 12v Dewalt tools. They don’t use in-pounds or ft-pounds they use unit watts output UWO. Near as I can tell you have to have quantum physics, calculus, and calculus degrees to convert from UWO to in-pounds. Anybody have an easy approxomation? Oops there is that calculus again.

I got here late. I would have been somebody who also voted for steel roof. One thing I didn’t see mentioned in any of the comments was to be sure and buy shingles made for your market area. Evidently shingles are made with different cold and heat tolerances you get one that’s not made specifically for your area you can have problems. It happened…[Read more]

Good information to know. I hate when things are just a little bit different than advertised. Turns out that little bit makes the difference between exceptional and unusuable.
