    In my area, they’ve been in stock since late last year.

    I find them I’m the Milwaukee hand tool area and also lots of times at the contractor’s desk.

    Sven,

    I got your pm and responded but I’ve had problems with things not going through. If you don’t get it, it’s not because I ignored you! 🙂

    Ok, I gotta idea. I know that we all love to be helpful, provide valuable information, and participate on here. Of course we also like the points we get doing the aforementioned as well.

    My suggestion for the site is to limit how posts are made and it could be done with a simple query. This may also solve double posts. For example, I’m posting this now, here in the BTP Improvements thread. Now make it so I can’t post again right behind a post I already had. Maybe this would force people to edit their posts and not post 5 or 6 times in a row. I think that conversations are great, and helpful, but see no reason to post several time behind yourself. I take the time to edit my posts, and think others should do the same. Just today, I replied and quoted a post, then after I did that I realized that there was another page. So, I took the extra time to edit the post I made to have everything in one post. Would it have been quicker to just throw up another new post and get more points? Sure would have, and the points would have been nice, but I didn’t.

    The query could happen when someone hits the “Post” button and simply be:

    Was post previous to post theirs less than 4 hours ago? Refuse post and make them edit theirs. Hope people are picking up what I’m throwing down.

    I have no ill feelings to anyone here regardless of how new/old, computer savy/not, whatever race, color, religion, ect. It just drives me nuts when people post 35 times in a row. I’ll get off of my box now. Thanx.

    @bethepro

    Personally, I think you’re making this more of an issue than it really is…

    Well its a sreach for a new tool but I hung up this harbor freight wench 3 weeks ago . Down in my back , chiropractor out of town . I found my sons gravity boots + a deer skining rack then it was down hill from there . This is wrong on so many levels starting with depending on the Harbor freight wench . Kids dont try this at home I’m not a professional in this area ! Back is better but dont reccomend this .

    Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!!

    Glad the back is better.

    they shouldnt just leave stuff like that at the front door in plain sight. I feel like they should either wrap it in some kind of non-transparent paper or put it in another box. Seeing a Bosch tool box that size sitting out in the open is really tempting :)

    That’s why all our drivers know to leave packages on our back porch (which is where this was).

    Great item to have. Looking forward to a review. Did you use points?

    Yes. Kind of a bummer being back down in the low digits again, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

    Had a chance to unbox it this evening. Looks pretty sharp! I can’t wait to try it out…

    It’s here! Arrived on my doorstep this morning.

    Haven’t had a chance to open it up yet….

    What is it?

    Sorry Mark. The pic wouldn’t upload when I initially posted. I had to crop it and repost. It’s there now.

    I had one in a drill hogging out 2″ holes and the other was in a circ saw cutting up a plastic dog kennel. Both sat on a charger over night and worked great until they didn’t. Not even warm to the touch when I put them on the charger. 15 seconds each and the charger threw the red/green code.

    Ouch! That sucks!

    I hope they exchange them for you. It seems pretty hit or miss @ times on that too from different people I’ve talked to – doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason.

    Crap… toasted two makita batteries tonight. Won’t even take a charge on the charger. I hope they get replaced. Our service center has been pretty good with exchanging batteries.

    What were you doing prior to them quitting?

    what an insightful and useful post.

    You named your problem.

    I gave you something to think about that you’re obviously not doing. Sorry you didn’t like it:-(

    I think I see now why you have such a hard time….

    you told me I need a new source for employees. NO SHIT, SHERLOCK. but you didn’t suggest a new source, so your post is useless.

    Sorry to offend you. Didn’t mean to. I was giving you credit for being able to think for yourself.

    Trade schools, network with other contractors who are not as busy as you (share workers), talk to your suppliers to see if they know of guys who are looking. You might have to go outside your area to draw someone in. Up your pay scale? I don’t know what you’re paying, so not sure if it’s competitive enough.

    I do know it’s a challenge everywhere. It just requires that we get creative.

    I don’t have any desire to antagonize or carry this further. I just wanted you to know I wasn’t trying to be a jerk here.

    then how else do you hire? we get most of our guys through other guys who work for us or have in the past but most of those guys don’t drive and it’s a hassle cause if the guy who drives them is sick none of them can come in.

    I think you need a new source for employees and employee referrals!

    @pi_woodworker,

    My oldest son (my 2nd oldest child) started out very young. For Christmas when he was 3, I built him his own 5′ work bench. He had a vise, tools, etc. I went to the local Salvation Army store and bought him a bunch of things (radio, blow dryer, toaster, etc and cut the cords off. By the afternoon he had them all disassembled and made into something else! 🙂

    At 3 1/2, he was outside watching our neighbor at the time (who was also a contractor) work on his house. My neighbor kept trying to stump him, but he knew the name of every tool and what it was used for! It’s funny hearing a 3 yr old try to say “circular saw”!

    We homeschool, so it gives us flexibility. At 7, he became my “seat buddy”. He’s about to finish (next week) his 1st yr of college. He already knows waaay more about a lot of things than I do. I sure miss my “seat buddy!”

    My oldest informed us we’ll be grandparents in October. I’m only in my 40’s. I’m too young to be a grandpa!

    Oh well, it’s back to collecting peanut butter jars for bolt containers for me…..

    Redeemed points in this week for the 14″ benchtop metal cut-off saw.

    That is something that I keep forgetting about. I need to get one myself.

    Looking forward to getting it. I’m in the process of building/welding a trailer, so it’ll really help.

    WooHoo!!

    (But it’s a bummer starting back out at the bottom of the points again!) 🙁

    Does it come it 5 gallon pails? :) How many carpenter assistants do you have @hdpro?

    @pi_woodworker
    , (laughing) I’m sure it does but thankfully we haven’t resorted to that yet!

    I have 1 that helps me extensively, 1 that’s training to help me, and 1 that wants to help when they get a bit older (attention span still a little too short:-) ). The rest will willfully “help” under gentle bribing when needed! LOL

    But until SamM responds, you’re answers are only surmising. It may be for a very different reason. That’s why I asked him directly, but so far, no response.

    @SamM Don’t know if you saw this or not?

    I saw it, but forgot about it. Thanks for Tagging me, Im not super regular on here so its helpful to be reminded when someones looking for my input.

    My belief stems from a video I watched on one of those “worlds craziest police videos”. A security guard unloaded two clips at a killer in a busy street without hitting him. It disgusted me to see him so flagrantly disregard the lives of the bystanders.

    this is a vid I found on youtube about it. Interview with the guard who did the shooting.

    <figure class=”oe-video-container”><iframe width=”770″ height=”578″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/NeFB17CtTww?feature=oembed&wmode=opaque&#8221; frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=””></iframe></figure>

    @SamM
    , I appreciate you responding.

    I’m still struggling to understand how you came to formulating your belief’s based on the video you posted. It shows in the video that he takes down the suspect. Secondly, it’s in Israel, a very different country on the world stage. Thirdly, he’s dealing with a terrorist, not your average Joe Citizen. There are times when civilian casualties cannot help but occur. I personally, would rather an over-armed society, with safer streets and an in-check govt, than the reverse. Because in reality an un-armed population is neither safe or free.

    As I said, I’m all for proper training and practicing. As Sven said, it’s a whole different thing out there under pressure. But here in the US, at least for a little bit longer, we still have the 2nd amm which provides the right to protect.

    I’m on my phone, but if I remember correctly, you’re from Canada? Having lived in Canada, I’m aware of how some Canadian’s views differ from ours here in the US because of the laws.

    Sam, not criticizing you. I guess I just don’t come to the same result.
