@gdhaywood that makes sense. I’ll be more careful to check that from here on. Most places that I work in have the T8’s already, but for the few that don’t I’ll have to look and see if the ballasts are compatible. Thanks for all the info!

@gdhaywood, so what happens if you do interchange them? Like I said, I have a few T8’s I’ve put in for some T12’s and nothing’s happened that I can tell…so what’s the reasoning not to?

As for my own problem, I decided to stop trying to wrestle any more with it and just swapped out the ballast. Solved the problem just like that. It’s so weird though, I’ve never had a ballast…[Read more]

@gdhaywood hmm, it was set up with two reds on the same yellow and then a blue to the other yellow (and it’s a four lamp ballast, so the second blue was just capped) I re-wired it so that the outer red now goes to the previously capped blue but had to leave before I could see if that changed anything (it was the daycare’s nap time).
