@dirtywhiteboy I’m still alive, no new women, just the same perfect one. (In case she sees this)
I did make some progress on the neck and “truss rod”. I’ll post some pics soon.
I’m really waiting on my fretboard. The CNC setup I have access to has been wishy-washy about doing it. So that’s what really holding me back. Once that’s on, I’ll be…[Read more]

I posted a few pics of it earlier in the thread. I might need more, but I haven’t used it in a while.
Been a big slacker these past few weeks.

@skillman No real progress, Life has really been getting in the way of fun hobbies.
But rest assured I will post pictures when I make any progress.I did talk to the PMT dept here at my College, and they said they should be able to CNC out my fretboard for the inlay, which is nice.

Semi progress. I’ve received my inlays from ebay and I’m digging them. I went with the Angus Young styled lighting bolt celluloid inlay.
Looks similar to pearl but so, so much cheaper. I’ll try to have the routing done by our PMT department at school. They have a fancy cnc router that can achieve some pretty detailed stuff. So hopefully they’ll…[Read more]

DirtyWhiteBoy wrote:What was wrong with the car??? I just got over a freeze plug issue,, it was horrible!
It was a leaking water pump that somehow led to a “limp mode” from a sensor which turned off the turbo and left me with little power. Then I needed a new set of tires… and this a couple weeks after I replaced a $375 bearing on the CV…[Read more]

Yep. I trust myself more than I trust most mechanics. And I’ve saved so much money over the years.

It almost looks like the arches on the bottom of the girders tried to flatten out. Like the Flange wasn’t thick enough or wide enough. And once the weight got too high, it couldn’t keep up the fight.
AKA Engineering problems

About $0.11/lb… That’s not quite gonna cover expenses.
Ouch…

Sorry about the lack of progress.
Been dealing with a broken down car. Life can frustrate hobbies.
Hopefully more progress to come in the near future.

My high school didn’t have “shop” per se, but we had Ag. Ag mechanics, Metal Fab, and a couple others I can’t remember off hand were all just welding. Intro Ag had like a month of Woodworking tho.
Finding a student down where I teach in College that can read a tape measure is like finding buried treasure.

This guy has a lot of neat stuff on his website, or his youtube channel. That’s how I found him.

Next, I used the pickup template to accomplish mostly the same thing.
Forstner away!
What is super sweet about this ShopSmith is it’s depth control on the drill press.
Just tighten down on how deep you wanna go, and it stops there. Easy as pie. I double checked the depth as well with my trusty combo square.

With these templates I was able to work on the body a lil bit.
To help line up where exactly to place the template on the backside of the body, I screwed my main template to the front and drilled through the whole body where the controls where they will mount.
I purposely cut the template down to where the edge is the center line of the body.…[Read more]

Woo progress!!
So I made some more templates this afternoon. The rounded one here is for the control cavity routed into the back side of the body. The jigsaw and spindle sander made this so easy I wish I needed to make more. Oh wait! I do!
The smaller square one is for my pickups. The depth is a little fuzzy on the pickup cavities, but I figure…[Read more]

Moze wrote:Nice! Any tricks to drilling straight so the bit doesn’t wander toward the front or back of the body?
Nope.
So if anyone does have a clue on how to drill straight, my ears are open. Or eyes in this case. You get it.

Hooray!
I received my first free tool from this lovely site and our wonderful sponsor!
I got three 5/16″, 18″long bell hanger bits. The reason is for drilling the path for my wires in the pickups.
I used my template to give everybody an idea of how this is gonna work. There will be a cavity routed in the back side where the controls will go.…[Read more]
