Charlie replied to the topic Bosch GLI18v-420 18v work light, analysis, thoughts, and comparison with FL12 in the forum Cordless Power Tools 4 years, 3 months ago
I’ve used my GLI18v a few times now. It’s a solid, functional, useful light. The adjustment between the 2 light modes is nearly imperceptible, although a fine woodworker or detail painter might say otherwise. Way easier to hang the GLI18v in nooks and crannies than the CFL180. I like the tight beam on the CFL180 alot more to spotlight a smaller…[Read more]

Search ebay for “gli18v-420” and you will see them for $40-$45 shipped. I tried some auctions to try to snag one for under $40, but bidders usually nudged the prices into the low $40s anyways. If you don’t want to hover over an ebay listing waiting to click to save…[Read more]

An import of the Asia market tool is up on Amazon US, although I’m not paying $57+$13 for this light. When it is posted domestically for under $50 then I’ll probably bite.

That light looks right; a US VariLED.
I was told the blower was 18v, so we’ll see.

Business plans are always in flux, but a little birdy told me today that Bosch 18v will see an LED light in May/Summer and a blower in August/Fall.

My previous company provided custom molded ear inserts connected by a heavy cord. Wise guys would cut the cord and inevitably lose one of their two inserts. Dummies.

Plastic peanut butter jars are awesome. A few different sizes of jars with different sizes and types for each faster. The jars wear out at about the same rate I eat peanut butter, so it’s perfect.

Today I bolted a few stationary toolboxes to the workbench so they stop growing legs and walking away!

Starting the great L-Boxx experiment. Got an LB1 with all the colored inserts for fasteners and the LB2 for my latest drill/driver. I wish I could get another molded insert for drivers so I could fit a drill/driver and an impact driver and a few charged batteries. I don’t always need to lug my charger around for light jobs, so I wish I had that option.

Finally bought my own floor jack for the garage after years of borrowing. I’ve been jacking up everybody’s car that comes over just to look underneath it. My wife doesn’t really care for it. 😉

If you do end up retiring a tool, there are charities out there that can use working tools, even if they have to go spend money buying/refurbing batteries.

I love the idea of the 36v rotary hammer, but I can’t imagine needing that kind of power and not having a power source nearby.
As the plants in my yard try to swallow my house, I’m still waiting for Bosch to release an 18v string trimmer compatible with my fleet of batteries. I hate to diversify my portfolio, but the tools I need are not available yet.

I bought the 18v die grinder to meet my needs as a grinder and a super-Dremel. Sometimes I wish I had just gotten the angle grinder instead. Although I saw the mod to mate it to a plunge base for a top-heavy cordless router. Might try that out.

My power tools used to be a mish-mosh of different cheap brands, until Bosch started to fill out their litheon line-up. Although I did just get a cheap off-brand string trimmer to fill that gap.
