Hi ALL,
Yes The TriHorse Kickstarter was a success and we started manufacturing 6 different sawhorse models in July. They are only available in the local MN market for pick up at my shop and I won’t do any sales pitch on BTP.
I can show more about how they work and some of the ideas that went into the design could be useful to the members here.…[Read more]

Sometimes the best work table is the one you don’t even need…
…if your miter saw and table saw and a work supports, like the FlipTop stand are all set at the same height, they can work as well as a large work table for some tasks…

I also have this combination cutting table and miter saw stand arrangement. The miter saw can fit on the front edge and the area behind the miter saw is good for ripping sheet goods with a track saw.
This way you can do the ripping and crosscutting to length on the same work station.
This table is made of notched and interlocking 2×6’s and…[Read more]

I have an odd assortment of work tables I use. Most work well with the TriHorses.
I have a fancy, hollow torsion box, portable work bench that also works as a wing for the miter saw or a table saw out feed. This table has integral side and tail vises.
I don’t have plans for this yet but can post photos of the building process if anyone is interested.

Here is another use for the large holes in these horses…When setting up for door hanging, I can store my levels IN my sawhorses. I often see levels just leaned up against the wall… one bump and down they go.
Also, If your set up has miter saw and table saw in one work station, and at the same height, along with an extra FlipTop work support…[Read more]

@jzmtl, I used CDX plywood which has exterior use glues and glued mine up with Titebond 3 which is waterproof. If used outdoors, a deck sealing product is probably a good idea, or even an exterior paint.
Here are some horses built and used outdoors on the west coast in Oregon. They added a sacrificial top and composite shoes so the horses don’t…[Read more]

I haven’t personally used them, but this is what I would buy new. Made in the USA:

Thanks,
I use noisy power tools most days at work, went I get home, I like it quiet as much as possible. I have a collection of human-powered mowers. I keep them sharp and fine-tuned and they cut about as fast as a gas-powered model. The old ones cut the best, but they are a bit of effort to push.

Just made an interesting accidental discovery this week. The TriHorse 3/4″ holes fit the bar on some of my Jorgensen clamps and make a great bench vise on the sawhorse. Different clamp heights can be used or even the slots or large holes too. Could also clamp in any direction or on a slope, as the work dictates.

Mark that was not me, though in the right climate I can envision a sweet setup based on a flatbed. In Minnesota, not so much.
My trailer setup is pretty cool and was featured in JLC several years ago.

I started work as a carpenter in an old VW camper van, which was great, actually. I traveled pretty light in those days. The trend went up from there to working out of a full-sized van, then I outfitted a work trailer and used the trailer on most jobs. Then back down to a full-sized work van and now finally, I am back to working…[Read more]

Update:
I came up with a system today to hang my portable shop tools along just 32″ of wall space.
The front two corners of this garage, just inside the overhead door, hold my portable shop components. One wall has the TriHorse components within a few feet of the door, the opposite wall now holds all the tools and components that connect the…[Read more]

The offset circle lock should be done so gravity automatically engages the lock, but you rotate the circle up against gravity and hold it in place to hang the components. Here is a fancy pull pin that can hold the circle up against gravity:

The handle spaces on the two-leg piece could work like you are suggesting. The circular cut-outs can also work that way, if you offset the screw that attaches the circular lock so it pivots after you hang the part to lock it into place. I can make a lock like that sometime and post photos. It may not make sense as I explained it.
Dirty…[Read more]

The hardware I posted about is called a “Bar Holder” and can even be sourced at Home Depot:
Funny they are sold to secure doors using a 2×4 as the bar… but they sell in packs of 5! for use in pairs???

I do plan to use the same brackets in my trailer, just layout the parts in “landscape” orientation vs. the “portrait” set up in the shop. I also have plans to use these brackets on a cart for rolling the whole set-up around. I’ll post some shots of that when I get to it as well.
Another idea for van, truck or trailer is for these…[Read more]
