We are doing our HVAV vents in toe kicks routing grooves instead of using a metal grate. I have posted pics of a few. After seeing @asevereid do his horizontal I knew that is how we would start doing ours. I have always done the layout on site and made a quick, rough jig to complete the task.

Today we spent some time in shop office in the morning. Then went to the cottage reno. Installed some roof vents for the bath fan and range hood exhaust. Finished up some misc wiring. Installed this toe kick. I did the vent cut out at the shop last night. Thanks @asevereid for the horizontal idea. I like this way much better than vertical.

Some good mods being discussed. @thedude306 the side slot is something I have thought about before and just haven’t tried. I never thought about an angle before…I like that. Honestly I only have a short rail and a long rail and the only time I have ever connected them has been in the field doing site mods to a floor or large cabinet.

When people give me scraps of wood, most times it ends up in my fire pit. Got a brother in law who works at a specialty wood shop and will give me the scraps.
@asevereid, Can’t wait to see some finished products that you make with the scraps. Just noticed you are in BC, there must be some mills around that you can muster up some scraps for nothing?
