That’s a great approach .
I had a big , self leveled floor with heat wire fail during install once, it cracked like crazy . We likely mixed it too thin.
The new mats are a dream, you can lift the wire and reroute it until you get the placement just where you want it, then you just trowel the thinset in . Once I used one , I decided I’d likely…[Read more]

Consider the new mats , like ditra heat . They solve all the challenges, make the cable install much easier , and simplify everything. They are all we use now .

The root of the problem is the tub likely isn’t attached or supported.
Remove grout , clean with alcohol , apply Rtv color matched silicone , spray with soapy water and tool smooth , allow to cure .
Repeat every few years , all caulk eventually fails .
Silicone has great flex and adhesion, RTV is room temperature vulcanizing , those caulks can…[Read more]

Ok, you have a 2 piece adjustable drain in there . It appears the clamp was removed and the fiberglass was installed and laps over the sub drain .
Plugging the pipe beneath the drain will allow you to flood test it .
The only other 2 challenges are getting the drain to screw down low enough , and if you use a small tile on the floor, bonding…[Read more]

The hkc miters 0-60 °and the saw plunges and tilts to 45 also.
It doesn’t do it all, but what it does do , it’s extremely handy for.

I have the new HKC cordless with the longer track , and it’s self squaring, but you have to pay attention to what you are doing .
I’ve wanted a self squaring arm on a track for as long as I’ve had a track saw .

Always remember water vapor behaves differently than just water , and many trowel applied liquids require a certain thickness in order to block it .
Think of how effective a steam iron is versus misting with water .

What I think is cool is you guys are smart enough to use track saws …we don’t see many in my area , and I absolutely love mine .
You can simply do things you can’t do with regular saws .
I told my Festool dealer that really, when does someone really ever want a sloppy cut??
