Took a mini trip north, including a stop in Sudbury, Ontario, where we saw this…

I googled it up, and it’s not a joke. It’s seriously for sale. You can have it for under a million.

one of the weirder things I’ve seen listed for sale!

Guess you coulkd buy it and then lease it back to the city to store water. Sounds like a long term investment for someone and the looks the city is looking for cash in a hurry. I wonder if the tower needs expensive upgrades for safety?

Can’t say that is a regular household item. LOL How many buyers are there for something like that? It will probably go for a low bid to someone who will demolish it and sell it for scrap.

I’ve seen this water tower when I was younger. Strange that is up for sale. They must use it anymore.

That would be an interesting purchase – maybe for the person who has everything. I wonder if the land comes with it?

How many gallons does it hold, and is it full of water?

It’s empty, @redwood (Mark) … It was decommissioned back in ’98…

Interesting that you should mention condos, @Lakelover, because that is apparently one of the ideas that they were considering but it fell through.

AFAIK, @MrToolJunkie the land is part of it…

    still a weird thought.

Maybe they should take the top off it and turn it into a big elevated pool… 🙂

I got the background info here:

    Honolulu,, Hi.

I’d buy it! Just think of all the things you could do with a big tank..
If you cut the legs off of it and scrap em then put the tank under ground it would make a heck of a dooms day shelter.

    Thanks for the link.

So it is slated for demo. I wonder what scrap value is on that much steel ? Also the land costs.

They could make a great movie and end with the tower coming down implosion style.

It could make for an interesting project. Just make sure you are not afraid of heights before you take it on.

I’d prefer a beer tank lol, make beer right in there then you have supply on tap for god knows how long. 😀

Probably too long! It would go bad before you made a dent!

What’s the official story here? Any idea?

Heck yah I’d buy it if it was closer to toronto. I’d convert it into one giant living space. I’ve seen a few that have been converted and it looks awesome.

Would be a pain to go out/get home when the power goes out, LOL.

Turning it into condo’s would make it almost “Jetsons” living., the cartoon not the Sherman Hensley version.
