Wanted to show the pepper mill that I purchased from Mr. Lon @pi_woodworker It is absolutely beautiful! I put that showpiece right on top of my oven so it can be seen :) The quality is excellent!

That pepper mill looks amazing. I have never seen one with so much of the mechanisms exposed. All the kits I have seen have just the finial at the top showing.

I just finished this one for my wife, ostensibly for Valentines day:

Nice wine rack! Now fill the thing up!

    Is the top a tile?

Nice looking wine rack you built William. The inset top adds a lot of character. I also wonder what it is. It looks like a highly figured piece of maple.

The top is a piece of fire wood out of a friend’s wood pile: Birdseye maple, jointed from 4 pieces, the whole piece is maple, the rest is stained to bring contrast while the top is one coat shellac followed up with wipe on poly.

I believe I now have to make at least one or two more after some others have seen this one, but I am looking for some nice wood with a lot of character to highlight in the center panel, anyone have some good sources for a relatively small amount in Eastern Canada? The center panel is approximately 14 x 10.5 and about 5/8 thick, and I would like to try some with more highly figured maple if not birdseye, flame or fiddleback would be nice.

I like the maple top . I also think a nice piece of ceramic floor tile would make a nice insert. Much easier to find too!

Any chance for more in that wood pile?

Now that is an awesome piece. Nice job on not letting that one get tossed into the fire pit.

Although it looked like a ceramic tile at first I had a funny feeling it wasn’t and I was right 🙂

If you really want to, you can run a VM on your mac, with a windows install (even a 30 day free trial) on top.

Virtualbox is ok, and the price is right at free.
I run Parallels with windows 10, but for this program, virtualbox running windows anything would do the job. Im sure you can dig up an old XP disk somewhere
