Haven’t been here in a while.

What’s new here? Is it still mostly a DIY site?

    Any Pro Mods yet?

Do they still do the rewards program, or did the members finally get that chopped off?? 😮

I’ve had my busiest couple years ever.

Bought a mini-excavator, CAT 305.5, couple months ago.

Have a skid steer, mini-ex, tele-handler, 65′ JLG knuckle boom lift, little 5 yard dump truck, new tilt deck trailer, finally got my dream service body truck, RAM 5500 4×4 with a manual.

Added my California Electrical Contractors License last spring. GC and EC now.

Got a few builds going on this year, assuming materials are still available once the permits finally get issued.

Cannabis is booming here, unfortunately, but the good side is, they all need power. Lots of power.

All in all, I’d say I’ve been pretty blessed in the last couple years, all things considered.

Don’t like drugs, drug users, or drug producers.

Matters nothing to me if it’s “legal” or not.

I don’t like what it has done, and is currently doing, to my community.

Unfortunately, we’ve traded the timber industry for the cannabis industry.

    Thanks.

I reworked my business model a little.

    I’ve been a do-everything one-man-show for so long.

I’ve decided to use subs much more than I ever did in the past, and focus more on the work I enjoy doing.

I like that I can do everything from concrete, to tile, to plumbing, but I’ll only do that on smaller projects now.

I’m focused on just doing site work, concrete, framing, and electrical, in house. Sub the rest.

I’m enjoying spending more time on the project management end of things instead of running around trying to do all the sub trades.

It’s also enabled me to take on much larger projects than I was able to before.

This could be. I see it in the local news every day or every other day where the police have police have people for weed and other drugs. Not alcohol. Usually on the weekend the police have charge someone for impaired driving by alcohol.
Alot of people making a living with weed.

    That’s fine.

Don’t think the forum wants a big discussion on this, but who knows…..

Only thing I’ll have to say about it is, I’m a Christian, and God said wine is good. Jesus made and drank wine. He didn’t get high.

Drugs have been considered wrong by Christendom since the beginning. Hence my dislike for them.

My religion informs my beliefs, so I don’t assume others share them.

Maybe he got drunk from that wine 😀 You wouldn’t know.
Drunkenness last a lot longer than getting high out of weed.
We can go on until you manage to get me excommunicated 😀

If you ever wish to get educated, put down the bong, tape your mouth shut, and signal your willingness to learn.

I’ll do my best to teach you.

As for “what’s new here?” Nothing. Still a DIY wasteland.

    My mistake for coming back.

Sad but true. Not a lot of trade talk at the moment.
But we could get back to just that if more of our old members returned. And in turn that would bring new people in.

I think a lot of that comes from the semi-abandonment by Bosch. This place is past marketing campaign that they’re kind of stuck with keeping going or else anger a bunch of their customers.

I’ve been out of the trades since the end of 2015, when I started work in a recycling plant. Faded away from here around that time and only poke my head in every couple months. If you want lots of posts about the random crap people think is recyclable, then I’m your guy, but not much trade related to talk about, other than critiquing the work I see being done.

In my small world I don’t mind the DIY crowd. There are some very knowledgeable DIYers around. And others that want to learn. And that’s all great. But without people in the trades it can be hard to find the answers to some harder questions. In the end we are all here to learn or chat about tools and how we use them.
