Well the new turbomolecular pumps have been running all weekend , looks like it’s going to good , started the bake out process for the filling station
Out with the old in with the new
Still some tweaking to do with the controller , we are having a bracket made , but it’s up and running
Old system with the two canister sorption pumps , new one with the turbomolecular pump on the floor.

    Everyone’s favourite past time….sanding.

Got all the trim pieces tuned up enough to be ready for finish. I have to do it indoors so no BLO on these. Just poly. They will darken with time. Just having a coffee now before I start applying it. Too cold in the shop, so finishing is taking place in the house. I will still have to do some trimming to length when I install it.

Went through the stores in Goderich looking for hinges for the vanity doors. Ended up ordering them from Lee Valley. I don’t think they are a perfect match, but they will be close enough. For the price of them I hope so anyway. Tired of having this job not completed.

Finished the second round of the bake out of the manifold , now on to passing the cesium into the bulbs , then the Krypton. Hopefully no leaks.so far I’m liking the new system. No more liquid nitrogen.

Is not using liquid nitrogen making your job a little easier Brian?

Last coat of poly is drying. Install tomorrow. This will tie up a lot of loose ends.

Haven’t been here for a while so I figured I would give the quote thing a try and see what happens. …..

I got all the wood that I milled up into trim and finished put up in the bathroom today. It looks great….but….it gave me another idea so I have to mill up a bit more to do another small area between the door and tub with wainscott and trim. More work to do now.

Well after two days of work on the manifold and filling station , found out we have a leak somewhere in the system , checking it with methanol and after that helium ,
No luck , having a specialist come back with a special leak detection system , hopefully they decide to spend some money and buy one of these machines , definitely would speed up the process.
They are starting to realize that they have an old old system , last week when they installed the new pumps , they said they are obsolete now 😬

I received an emergency call from the local truckstop I maintain. All the toilets in one of the men’s restrooms were stopped up. I was expecting to have to auger out the line once I got there. But find some a@@ had stuffed rolled up news paper’s in five toilets. He had to have really worked to get that much paper rolled and shoved into each toilet. Had to pull all the toilet’s and dig the paper out of each one form the underside of the trap.

What an idiot , don’t know why people have to vandalize other people’s property
Did you have all the seals with you , or did you have to pick up materials.
