Paint prep is one of those jobs that the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. Putting on the new paint is only about 10% of the job. Still, a yukky job though.

Oh man Ron, that’s sucks, hopefully you have your PB with you. Good luck with the scraping.

Ah me just more glass parts being made again, pretty boring but it pays the bills.

    French Polishing.

Got the first spit coat of shellac on the coffee table top. Taking a break to let my arm rest now.

It’s a beautiful finish but what a lot of work.

That it is. My arm has not been this tired since I took suspiciously long showers as a teenager.

A power washer would have made fast work of that.

Got some punch out and exterior trim done on a small addition. Half of the crew was working elsewhere getting some roof framing done.

Are you talking about the efflorescence in the picture Jim? It actually shows an area where moisture is trying to escape. Although efflorescence does not mean the brick or mortar joints are rotten, in this case they were. Most likely from previous roof leaks where water has entered the wall system. The mortar joints were cracked and delaminated. Most often the pressure washer will not remove efflorescence. Muriatic acid does a great job.

Or maybe referencing all the silica dust that is still on the brick? I do wash the wall down with a hose spray nozzle. There is a power washer on site but I would not want to force water into the wall cavity, just rinse out the powder.

    Where’s the Bosch Power Sprayer? : )

Drove a half hour to the shop to find out the PM didn’t have anything scheduled for me today and most likely not for Monday either…..looks like I get a long weekend…
