    Honolulu,, Hi.

    Beautiful job man!!

    @boschmanbrian, the rip rap is the finished product serving as a retaining wall. All of the rock came out of the fields around the house. The land has been in the family for a couple generations. As they farmed the land and exposed the rocks they would pile them all in the same place for years. And now they have a permanent use.

    Thanks for the reply, that’s pretty cool about being in the family for generations, how big is the land that you have built on, once again great work

    Great looking house. I love the large windows and the walk out below.

    Awesome project! That house is definitely portfolio worthy! I love the real timber bent you used on the porch! That is an item I want to work into one of our project home some day. Thanks for the pics!

    You said this was your first ground up build…were you the general for the whole thing?

    @overanalyze yes, we are the general on this project. However we worked with the Home owner and allowed him to line up the insulators.

    @beardedcarpenter
    it is ponderosa pine out of South Dakota. There’s a painter about 2 hours from here that buys it and finishes it, then sells it for $.85 a Lin foot. The HO found it on Craigslist.

    Thank you all for the comments!
    It’s been a fun project but it seems to be dragging on longer than hoped

    I like the look of the front of the house , I’ll be following this thread as you progress . Were the plates you used on the beams from a local metal shop or off the shelf ? They look like some I’ve seen from Lee Valley .

    @jerrysats that truss came all assembled from stuctural wood Corp. So I’m not sure if they made the gussets or bought them from somewhere.
