    “D” You can usually add 2′ to the exterior L. FT. measurement for each rafter. Depending on pitch.
    OR if you like add 10 or 15 % to the plan view size.

    If you use a spreadsheet you can use a formula to calculate your rafter length where you enter the pitch, span and overhang into a cell and it will automatically calculate the length.

    I also have a bunch of notes on the wall above my desk with multipliers for roof pitch runs up to a 16 pitch. In addition to that i keep a dinder with a lot of helpful information on my desk like span tables and suppliers price lists to use when pricing projects. having information at your fingertips really speeds up the estimatoing process.
