I got these back in November through BTP. I noticed a crack in the side of the sole and this is what I found.

The sole has broken all the way through, all text way across at the ball of my foot on the left boot. The right boot shows some hairline cracks on both sides above the tread in 3 places.

Not yet, just getting home and snapped the pics. Wanted to get some opinions first.

I also couldn’t remember if they had a warranty of some kind or not. There site doesn’t say as far as I can find.

I was just about to put these up for the year as my feet don’t like insulated boots in the summer. These are the Sheridan Insulated.

Wow that is quite the crack. I’ve had my Keen Abitibi boots for over a year and no issues at all. Do you do a lot of squatting down in your boots?

I would definitely send keen a pic. I bet they will send you out another pair. From what I have seen they really stand behind there footwear.

Would they need a proof of purchase to send you a new pair .

    Always willing to learn .

I can’t believe they wouldn’t replace your boots. That looks like something the whole batch would have a problem with so you won’t be the first person to bring that to their attention. That’s a material defect as you have not worn those boots out.

Just sent their Customer service an email. I found the warranty page on the website and it says up to 2 years from manufacture date.

We stand behind all KEEN products and guarantee them to be free from manufacturing defects for one year from the confirmed date of purchase. We ask that you please keep your sales receipt as verification of your purchase!
If your KEEN product fails because of a defect in material quality or workmanship, we ask that you contact the KEEN retailer of your original purchase to quickly resolve the issue prior to contacting us.

Below are some general guidelines of our warranty:

Approved warranty product is replaced at the discretion of KEEN
All cash refunds must be obtained through the original purchaser
Warranty is only valid to purchases made from an authorized KEEN dealer
KEEN is not responsible for any cost, or damages, incurred due to loss of use of the product
Product worn past the point of it being able to be repaired voids warranty coverage
You will need to keep possession of your shoes until you receive confirmation from us that your warranty claim has been completed
If your claim is approved, you will receive a product voucher in the amount of the original purchase price to use on http://www.keenfootwear.com or a replacement product (same or comparable) at the discretion of KEEN
Coverage ends when you transfer product

Examples of what is not covered by warranty:

Frayed webbing, worn stitching and worn soles due to normal wear
Damage that is a result from misuse, normal wear and tear or damage occurred during storage
Improper fit. Fit is the responsibility of the owner and should be assured before purchasing the product
Any footwear which is more than 2 years after the manufacturing date
Salesman samples, promotional product and final sale discounted product
    Products with labels removed

Just got a auto email back saying they received my email and normally will respond in 1-2 business days.

I’m probably going to request a pair of boots from work as they do sometimes provide them and save the Keens for my own time.

Wow that is quite the crack. I’ve had my Keen Abitibi boots for over a year and no issues at all. Do you do a lot of squatting down in your boots?

I get down on my knees during clean up to pick cardboard off the floor instead of bending over repeatedly. Other than for about 10 minutes every couple hours, not really a lot of time squatting. In the past I’ve spent a lot more time down, working on flooring, and I’ve wore the toes out of boots but not broken the sole except on a pair of Carolina’s I’d just about wore the sole off of already(after 3 years of everyday use).

Keen really stands by their shoes – they should set things right for ya. Others have had excellent customer service from them in the past if I recall…

I understand the 1 year from purchase warranty. But how does 2 years from manufacture date work into things?

My Keen’s are doing good. Tested the Keen Dry Sytem the other day and it passed with flying colors. I have to adjust to wearing them each time, as they feel funny when first putting them on as the toe box seems to have a slight upward curve.

It is a little unclear. Maybe they will give a partial refund or a credit if you have a defective product between 1 and 2 years old, but nothing if it’s more than 2 years old?

    Who keeps receipts for shoes?

Wow, that’s interesting. I got my sheridans the end of last summer and they are still doing fine. Guess I’m lucky.

I’ve had good luck with the red wings. I’ve had the same pair for almost three years now. Got them factory re-soled after the two year mark because I wore the tread out pretty good. Now that they have fresh soles they feel like brand new boots again for half the cost.
