ProDoes anyone have experience with Rikon brand tools? Stats sound good, 6″ spindle travel on their 17″ drill press. I thought I saw it in Lee Valley store, but nothing on the website. As far as I know, there isn’t a Can. distributor.
December 18, 2015 at 7:41 am #443330There is one, in Wainfleet, ON. Don’t know anything about them but here’s a link.

— Glenn BottingDecember 18, 2015 at 10:41 am #443395When I was looking at small lathes the brand was mentioned quite a bit by people turning pens, seemed to be generally considered good value. Haven’t heard anything about their other tools.
Lee Valley carries the midi lathe and accessories in both Canada and USA, @yellaD.December 18, 2015 at 11:25 am #443400@chrisk1970 has a Rikon Band Saw…

InstagramDecember 18, 2015 at 2:49 pm #443471I have the Rikon 14″ bandsaw also, no complaints here. It had great reviews and came in second to the Laguna which was a lot more money.

Cool! Can I ask which model, and how would you rate the guide fence? The tracking on a cylindrical bar system wouldn’t seem to be ideal..

I have the 10-325. I have not used the guide rail a lot and even less the cylindrical bar. I think It depends on what you are doing as to which to use. I know the re-saw rated well on the tool reviews when I was looking at it. The biggest negative I saw in reviews was that the light stem should be 6″ longer for better illumination of the blade.

well the illumination portion can be fixed with additional lights but if the resaw is that decent, I may have to look in to it as I need something that can resaw.
December 19, 2015 at 1:20 pm #443849Rikon has a good reputation (at least in their band saws) in the circles I hang out in. I would not hesitate on one if I were looking (at least in their band saws…again)

how do their bandsaws compare to laguana’s offerings? I am seriously contemplating 3 tools right now and the band saw is pretty high just for the resawing needs.

What he said!
I think a Laguna is a step above. You will have to decide for yourself if it is worth the extra money.

f when I was looking the Rikon came in just under the Laguna in the tests I looked at. I felt that was good enough for what I needed. not to mention a couple of hundred or more less than the Laguna

ProSorry guys, been a bit under the weather but Jon mentioned the saw (10-325 bandsaw) so I shot a video. Sorry turned it into a quick shop update but suffice to say, love the saw 🙂

The machine sounds great when cutting.
