I don’t have a clue what is the correct pronunciation, but I say it Rie oh bee.

May 28, 2015 at 9:34 pm #342669I would go with Rye-o-b, it may be the same as Rons, just a little different annotation.
May 28, 2015 at 9:35 pm #342672Rye-Oh-Bee is how I pronounce it, never heard it any other way.

ProI don’t say that name… OK just joking. But not much help, thought it was was how both rye and ri would sound.
May 28, 2015 at 9:41 pm #342682Rye O bee is how I pronounce it, though i wonder if it is regional in the way we choose to pronounce it.

May 29, 2015 at 12:37 am #342783How do you pronounce Ryobi?
It is a Japanese word that has been americanized. In Japan it’s Yobee, there is NO R sound in their language. If you said it in a tool shop full of Ryobi stuff the way we say it here they wouldn’t know what you’re talking about. The same goes for the car Mazda.
May 29, 2015 at 1:05 am #342791I found this on Yahoojp. look at the top video and at 29 mark you hear the correct way to say Ryobi.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC27-e8E0oVBcQubvnpSYvyQOh in this one they say it 4 or 5 times.
Here’s a little Japanese honey saying it a bunch of times.
For those of you with the Makita 18volt vac?????

Actually there is a “r” sound in Japanese.
My Japanese friend says it’s pronounced like Rohbee
May 29, 2015 at 2:06 am #342805Did you watch the videos??? Did you hear how they say it?? There is no R sound in Japanese! It’s a sound they have to learn when they get here.
I see you posted up Katakana a system of writing for American sounds, it is not Kanji the language that comes from Chinese. Where in Japan is you friend from?May 29, 2015 at 2:53 am #342814Doobie
ModeratorOh oh! Trouble in the hen house!
What I want explained myself, is why can’t they pronounce their “R” other than it doesn’t exist in their language per se.
That’s never gelled in my head that they can’t do it otherwise just simply based on their vocabulary not having it.
It’s like God has removed part of their vocal cords, but I know that’s not really true, so what else is it in fact.
May 29, 2015 at 4:35 am #342819We generally pronounce it “Toy O Bee”
May 29, 2015 at 4:48 am #342827Dirty, Thank you for the videos. So it’s Yobi.
