The only plants I grow are those you can eat, or bear fruit that you can eat.

I have house plants this time of year. Nothing special, just your typical foliage.

But in the summer!! Full on garden, every planter is full of strawberries. Raised garden in the back. Raspberries behind the garage.

I usually have about 30 pepper plants every year. Here’s some of my world famous hot banana pepper rings with onions. Canned in apple cider vinegar and honey.

We just do some house plants through the winter but go all out in the summer. Do a lot of different flowers and we always have a big garden, usually about 20′ x 20′ and some potatoes off by themselves in boxes.

OHhhh that looks good! I thought banana peppers were not too hot, even sweet? How do you eat that pickled pepper&onion?

Lots of plants at my house…currently I am overrun with orchids inside. No pics handy, but maybe I will take a few.

I pickle a lot of stuff from the garden – cauliflower, corn, I make my own sauerkraut, and I always make a big batch of pickled peppers. Last year I mixed jalapeños, Hungarian peppers, sweet red bells, and garlic cloves.

The bananas I grow are a mild heat, but there are sweet ones too. We use them on burgers and pizza mostly, or sometimes toss some in with a garden salad.

I bought some seeds to plant a coffee plant a few months ago but they’re still in the package. I guess that means I haven’t killed it yet. Had to toss my Aloe plant last week that I killed.

In higher elevations like Wailua people grow coffee. What they tell me is it’s just too much work to get coffee out of the beans.

I am a huge plant fan, I will be planting tons of stuff in the coming weeks. I have a tropical backyard setting. Including some banana trees.

    Man, I am incredibly jealous.
I used to have some raspberry bushes that were amazing, but have since moved away from that house and always miss having tons of fresh raspberries. They were so, so good. I also used to have some strawberry and tomato plants, but I still haven’t gotten around to planting anything here in MN – anyone have thoughts on what grows best in this crazy climate?
