I had my first experience with OSI Quad Max today…and I’m really impressed! It behaves much like regular Quad, but it’s better in every way. Oddly enough, I got an email from OSI today with a link to bunch of videos showing some of its characteristics. I’ll say that the videos are very impressive as well.

Don’t hate on me too much for being so excited about a sealant….it’s just that good!

Here’s a link to the videos they sent me:

I know what you mean. I started using OSI quad a year or so ago and I love it. My window/siding dealer was giving out max with a purchase, but I haven’t tried it yet. I’ll have to check it out on your say so now.

No, I won’t think less of you for loving a sealant.

It sticks better. And in a wider range of temps.

They also advertise that it will stretch much further than the previous generation before failing (twice as far I believe).

As for negatives….I’ve only seen it in White. It IS paintable, but I’ve used the regular Quad thousands of times when painting it just isn’t practical and I relied on a special color right out of the tube. I’m sure more colors will be available soon enough. OH…and its $8.00US a tube. More most out there, but IMO it’s probably worth it.

Can this be used as a adhesive? I wonder if it sticks well to acrylic & Polycarbonate. For those, Lexel is my go-to. The stuff is hard to beat.

EDIT: Just watched one of the videos and he says although it’s a sealant it works good as an adhesive. Will have to research more to see how it compares to Lexel.

They may need a introductory price to get it out there.

That would be nice! You can contact OSI and get a free tube BTW.

I’ve bought a few tubes now and can say it guns and tools nicely, but time will tell if it holds up better than the regular Quad.

Very Cool!! This is pretty timely for me because I have a cement fiber job coming up. I need to call OSI and see if they have the color I will need.

we use a lot of the Quad, and I have seen the ads for the Quad Max. I have not had the opportunity to use it however. I will need to check out the demo and look forward to trying it. I would guess my siding supplier would stock it, they stock Quad in about 40 or 50 colors.

There are three places local to me that carry it. My local yard, Lowes and Menards all carry it. Menards has it on sale at the moment for any Midwesterners that want to try it out.

It’s pretty good stuff, IMO. Of course time will be the ultimate test though.

Well this is the new preferred caulking by James Hardie for their cement fiber siding. I ordered 3 cases for the siding job we are on. There are two big benefits to this new caulk over regular OSI Quad for me. One is that it is much smoother coming out the tip. Very easy to apply. Second is that you can tool this one. Technically Quad is not supposed to be tooled which I am not a fan of.

This product is very very close to the Titebond caulking my yard stocks. I like that product alot. Cost of the Max is up there.

Your gonna really like it. We finished a whole house Hardi job last month and used this product. I was really amazed. It is actually very very easy to work with. I am not sure of the durability with it being that easy. Time will tell.
