I have the Makita 9565CV 5″ corded grinder and it has no case but is a work horse. The guard is tool free and will turn and clamp down at any point.

My grinders have this feature. I use it ALL the time. Especially when using wire cup brushes into areas where there isn’t enough room for a side mounted handle, and yet I want more control over the machine than one handing it.

I always look for three threaded holes in the grinder head. Between the three holes, I use the vertical one the most.

I’m not a big fan of the top mounted handle myself I don’t think I have ever used it.

I got my hands on a few Dewalt 4.5″ and 5″ grinders over the weekend, and I have to say I like the tool-less guard the most. It’s really easy to rotate and remove the guard. No hard case though.

I am thinking may be I need to go case-less and get a L-boxx to put it in.

I am still using my old Makita 4.5 inch grinder, I have looked at others, including the cordless ones, but the old workhorse as lots of life left in her.
