Timothy Wilmots has a great little video showing how he upgraded his miter saw fence on his kapex to help with dust control and prevent kickbacks… anyone else ever build anything like this?

That fast cap fence is a nice piece of tool. You could also look at the Saw Helper Ultra

    http://www.sawhelper.com/sawhelper_ultrafence_videos.php

FYI, if I am not mistaken, Sawhelper is out of business. For whatever reason, there website is still active and they have been gone for at least a couple of years. Fastcap tried buy them out, but it did not happen.

Well, that is interesting. I didn’t know, but I’m not in the market either. I just remember seeing it when I was looking up fences.

I hadn’t heard of sawhelper, but every time we discuss miter saw fences it reminds me of http://www.sawgear.com/Products/SawGear.aspx Again, it is a specialized product that is going to cost some serious cash up front, but I suppose if time is money for you, it could be worthwhile.

I can’t see paying $4940 for a saw fence that only goes one way…

That’s a nice link. I do about the same thing on my Hitachi miter saw when I have to cut large crown. It’s done a lot faster and thrown away after I’m done.

I am wondering if it would make sense at all to add a t-track to the fence to allow the mounting of an automaxx bench clamp, or if anyone has done anything like that before / if you have seen such a setup.

I think the track for a stop is a good idea. For holding down material I wouldn’t use it much.

FYI for those of you who have mft/3 tables and have best fences… you can get a slightly modified kapex mount so that it works with the extrusion in your mft/3 table.

LOL that’s for sure. Fastcap does have some very innovative products though. They generally come up with a product that solves problems in the shop.

The one good thing is that I discovered this thread, because it has recent posts and popped up on the active list. Unintentional benefit … lol

Personally I do not have a need for stops, but I use an extension table.

I think a little known fact is that the manufacturers expect you to put on a sacrificial fence to stop kickback. That is what the holes are for in the fences. I have also drilled additional holes lower down.

I think sometimes we get lazy with safety or the greed of money.

I find it easier to just do the right thing and get a good cut the first time.

A large portion of any job is the preparation and thought.

Some people I refer to as Take the money and run. The non quality of work is very easy to spot.

My personal attitude is do a good job and the money will follow.
