    The original Article: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/02/fashion/mens-style/27-ways-to-be-a-modern-man.html?_r=2

    Mike’s response: http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/mike-rowe-schools-liberals-on-what-a-real-man-is

    Flooring

NYT: “The modern man has hardwood flooring. His children can detect his mood from the stamp of his Kenneth Cole oxfords.”

Mike Rowe: “A Man’s Man is not committed to any particular type of flooring. He doesn’t attempt to communicate with his children through his footsteps, and he doesn’t own oxfords, unless they’re steel-toed.”

    Preferences

NYT: “The modern man doesn’t get hung up on his phone’s battery percentage. If it needs to run flat, so be it.”

Mike Rowe: “A Man’s Man prefers his gas tank full, his weapon loaded, his pantry stocked, and his checkbook balanced. He also likes his phone sufficiently charged, and takes the necessary steps to accomplish that.”

    Beverages

NYT: “The modern man buys only regular colas, like Coke or Dr Pepper. If you walk into his house looking for a Mountain Dew, he’ll show you the door.”

Mike Rowe: “A Man’s Man doesn’t drink children’s beverages. He drinks tap water, wine, coffee, beer, whiskey, or iced tea. He does however, keep soda pop on hand, on the off chance a modern man stops by.”

Mr Rowe seems to get it. Lots of celebrities don’t. I think he’s a guy you could have a few too many beers with.

Thats great! Much happier to be a Man’s man than a moder man. Mike Rowe is awesome! Love what he has done to bring awareness to skilled trades being great and not a last resort type job.

The more I read about Mike Rowe the more I like him. A celebrity who is down to earth, has common sense, and isn’t afraid to voice his opinion is pretty rare.

    Agree entirely

Be a man your kids can look up to, and stop worrying about being a modern guy, a hipster, a metrosexual, a lumbersexual, or whatever else the fad is today.

Mike Rowe gets that – and shows respect for the effort put into some of the dirtiest jobs that others might look down upon

He gets it and so do we!! When some one ask me what I do I say I’m a carpenter, someone has to build this city. Oh unless It’s a hot woman then there’s a different answer for them.

mike is definitely down to earth. its awesome seeing a celebrity who actually comes from a middle class upbringing and isnt afraid to show it. a while back there was an interview with him where he talked about how he lives a simple apartment in new york i believe and doesnt live lavishly. he keeps it simple and no b.s

heres a tip, dont fart in a space suit

He does a lot of narrating too, I’ve recognized his voice countless times on like say the Syfy or Discovery channel etc.
