Moved the boat trailer to a spot where I could get to it with a power cord to start grinding off the old welds. Going at it tomorrow, will be slow going as I want to try to retain the 4″ channel the existing hitch is mounted to if possible.
If that can’t be saved due to rust/rot, then I’ll have to cut that back to the channel iron and add an A-Frame hitch.

Messy job for sure. Lots of sparks and dust.

Well, so much for the boat trailer hitch today. Got sidetracked with another project as the parts came in the mail yesterday.
… the boat hitch can wait. πŸ™‚

    What’s the project?
It looks like a railroad signal post. So far.

Looks interesting what is it exactly. For personal use , or is it being built for someone else

A few more guesses and I’ll ‘splain what it is if not figured out. The parts that arrived are 6″ A36 ‘plates’, and no it is not a railroad sign post. πŸ™‚

Another post that ‘did not show up’.
Yes, it is a dueling tree for rimfire cartridges, something for the grandkids to have fun with.

Here is the final product after the base was welded up and a bit of paint splattered on everything.

Looks great , will you have to do any touch ups eventually after they get used ,

The attached pic was after the first round of shooting at the dueling tree, and yes ‘touchups’ occur after each outing. Just another coat of Fluorescent Orange paint and they are good as new. πŸ™‚

As for the overall project (after about 1000 rounds at the tree), there are a few modifications that need to be done to get things working a bit smoother, but overall it is a heck of a lot of fun.

Thanks. πŸ™‚ A ways to go though, but a lot more practice will help. Have shot more rounds with a pistol in the last 3 weekends than probably the last 50 years.
