    Honolulu,, Hi.

In US, they still call it Unemployment insurance. Minimum is 26 weeks I believe, but it varies from state to state. Also, weekly benefit is capped at around $350-$400 per week, again, depending on the state.

Dude you are way off topic!!! go start your own thread and stay off mine!!

Because of our weather, a lot of trade jobs are seasonal. EI gives a cushion to those who are laid off during the winter months.

lol we are Canadian, don’t we work outdoors even in -40?

    Honolulu,, Hi.

I should be getting back to this thread soon because the work shop still needs to get built on the property.

And how is the house coming?

It’s on hold right now because jjp is working. Once he has some time off and with the permit the garage-shop will be built.

    Honolulu,, Hi.

When are you going to start tearing down the old garage?

Well jjp did pick up the permits from downtown so the real work on the place can start. He has to wait for a break in work first.

Looking forward to seeing that. What’s the first task at hand?

Unless it is a huge company that can scaffold in and tarp the whole site/swing stage, your not going to see much high rise concrete/masonry or low rise work. The cure for all the materials just arn’t spec in such cold temps. I have done some emergency masonry on high rise in the dead of Winter but I could only imagine how long the work lasted for.

lol I was being facetious , I know most outdoor contractor work stops as soon as the cold hits. At that point it’s all indoor work. What do you do in the winter? Do you do any woodworking?

I hear @jjp is getting the cabinets in the bathrooms installed. I wish he’d get some time off so we could get that deck and roof done.

It’s called tenting the house and is very common here. They tent it to kill the termites.
No need to tent for the roaches.

Never heard of that before. Guess the infestation must be all over to need the tent.

WOW, I’m glad we only have certain pockets in Toronto that have Termite problems.

The roaches are big enough to be pets on the island, probably why they just leave them alone.
