A little project I did for the guest rooms last spring. I got a couple of cheap yard sale night stands and brought them back to life. It’s the kind of video that I like making, meaning I don’t talk at all during it…lol.

LoL , I actually enjoy hearing about what you are doing , I have to say Jim , the shop looks great , lots of room to work comfortably , those night tables came out beautiful , really nice , great way to save them , and they look great , I like the idea of using the buckets of nails for weight.

I have lots of those. Most left here by the previous owners.

Well , they definitely are practical , guess they mainly used a hammer and nails , not so much an impact 🤭🤭

Turned out nice Jim. I also just finished a yardsale rescue. The wife bought this for $10, wrought iron frame with ratan top and drawers. The ratan is dry and brittle and the top has some breaks in it and wouldn’t take much to completely break it. Soo, I thought I’d just make a quick simple solid top for it….. ever notice nothing is quick and simple? The frame had finials in the corners…5/8″ balls welded to the frame. After kicking around some ideas, I decided on that “quick and simple” solution. I measured out those balls, checked and double checked, then transferred to the top and checked and double checked. I bored 4 5/8″ holes 5/16″ deep. That should keep the top located and drop it down close to the wrought iron frame without a big gap. WRONG ! Holes didn’t match up with balls !! Drove myself nuts before I figured out the problem…. the wrought iron frame isn’t quite square, but my holes were. Had to hack bore 2 holes over an 1/8″ to get it to drop on the balls. Still had a gap which I didn’t like so I added a perimeter band to it before laminate. Total cost = $0.00 Top was reclaimed from a entertainment center and laminate was a leftover from another project. Not sure what that blue in the pic is ?? It’s not a spill or blue painters tape, it could be a reflection from TV or poltergeist ??

That is too bad your roof is leaking in the chapel. Just seems like one thing after another. Looks like you planted your grass seed at the right time as it got a very good start. Seems like you will never be bored there is always something too do.

Wow really nice video Jim , hats off to you and your wife , you guys made the guest area and rooms really nice ,
Great tour , I really like the workshop , how are you liking the Bosch router table , that’s another thing I’d like to get eventually. Any plans for redoing the chapel roof , and if you do would you do that metal to match the house.

Great idea to use the mulch for a path ,

Love the router table. I have the 1617 in it and it works really well. The switch is really handy and the dust collection is pretty good too with the shop vac on it.
The roof…I would like to do it in metal, same as the rest, not sure if that is in the budget though. Ultimately I would like to extend the roof over the joining section of the 2 buildings so it’s one clean line from building to building and have it all metal. Maybe if I win the lottery…lol.

Thanks for the information on the router table and router , that maybe something I’d eventually like to save up for ,

Yeah that would be great to finish it up with metal like the main living area , hahaha yeah I know what you mean about budget , would be great to win the lottery 💰💰💰💰

A short “run and gun vlog” style video on what I’ve been up to. I’m going to try short updates as such a huge project as a whole building is hard to edit into a story. That way I don’t miss about a million of the little things that are done around here. We’ll see how it goes.

Not a bad idea to post alittle short video of what you have been working on. I am sure editing can be a nightmare at times. Thanks for sharing.

I know how you feel about heights.

Got the fascia done today. Short “run and gun” videos for now. There doesn’t seem to be the opportunity to get an actual story done with the way I am working. This should hold us over until we can get the whole roof rebuilt the way I described in the last video.

How you like doing these types of video’s?

I am sure it helps with content for your channel and less editing for sure.
