Im thinking if I ever build a log house it will probably look something like this />
Is that one that was built on that TV Show, Timber Kings? Now they build some really nice log castles (homes).
This house isn’t from Timber Kings as far as I know but they do builds some beautiful log homes .

you plan on having a lot more kids and wives to fill the place
I would love to be able to build a log cabin or even a shed in log cabin style. Actually a shed might be interesting. I wonder how to get enough trees for a project like that…
I’ve always wanted to do this for a smallish outdoor structure.

That is a cool video. I think that would look awesome as a big firplace wall in a great room.

It is much cheaper here than it is in most places .You can get a house with 2 acres for $ 100,000 – 150,000 easily .

It is much cheaper here than it is in most places .You can get a house with 2 acres for $ 100,000 – 150,000 easily .
What about just acreage as I want to build something from ground up?
@58chev do you think we can find 5 acres somewhere 1 hour north of Toronto to buy and build one of these? I am seriously thinking about doing that and spending time building it from scratch. Along with it being totally off the grid.

Affordable and only 1 hour away from the big smoke? That would be quite the find, I think. Even then it would probably have all kinds of building restrictions from all the tree huggers.What do you think then? 1 hour and a half? Where would be a good place to look?
There use to be a magazine out of Barrie area that advertised a lot of cheap land all over Canada , A lot of it was up north and out east , nova scotia area . I cant think of the name of the magazine .

dingnams but it seems like it is too far and they don’t seem to have as many properties as they used to.That’s the one ! I couldn’t remember the name , it used to come in our mail all the time .I wasn’t sure if they still were around . Ill have to take a look at it .

Problem is, these days if it’s just land for sale 95% of the time there will be building restrictions due to it being considered “Conservation”

It wouldn’t be so bad if you have lots of money you could buy your own plane and fly there to save a lot of time . 🙂

heck even a helicopter would be nice, or a nice sailboat.
