I need to add a table to my Drill Press. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to buy or one you made that works well?

This is a great topic and I’m really interested in seeing what ideas come up as I’m thinking of doing it too

A friend of mine built this one: http://www.familyhandyman.com/tools/drills/how-to-build-a-drill-press-table/view-all#step2

It’s a nice looking table and he likes it.

Thanks for the link Chad. It looks like what I am looking for. I always like to build my own jigs and fixtures whenever possible. I will post an update if I build it.

That is a pretty sweet table. Makes me wish that I had a floor drill press.

That’s a nice setup. I am on the fringe of picking up a new bench top drill press to save on space, I might have to see if I can adapt something like this too it along with a rolling base with some storage.

I made one — it works pretty well — I will try and take some pics and post them. They are pretty easy to make and for me it had more features than what I could buy. The key was an adjustable fence on t-tracks, hold-downs on the same t-tracks and a removable insert that is replaceable.

That’s a really solid table Chad. Thanks for the plans!

I don’t really know of any favorite table option per say, but I would imagine this is a decent one: http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2020347/38523/WOODPECKERS-Complete-Drill-Press-Table.aspx

    Woodpeckers makes solid stuff usually.

Looks very nice. I may try and tackle that project myself.

I hate to bring it up, but Harbor Freight also has some that look like they may be of some use:

That actually does look like a pretty good setup Sven. Assuming that the fence is tight to the tracks that looks like it would do the trick.

How much is that one Sven?

I also found this on the site John posted that I haven’t ever seen before and I think it’s a great idea. http://www.woodcraft.com/product/2003188/1541/drill-press-roller-support.aspx

Woodpeckers makes a nice table if you don’t want to make your own.

I am a big fan of the built in rail system of this table. On drill presses that I used in the past I would just use a drill press vice.

Of course you could always just build one up like this guy:

A table like the one above is great with hold down clamps but your need for a drill press vice will not totally go away with a table. I also like the use of hardboard. I have done that on many of my work surfaces. It takes a beating and can easily by replaced when it gets old and worn.

Boyd, the one I posted from harbor freight is only like 30 bucks. When I have the chance, I’ll post a link.

I’m thinking Lon may be right on this one per the link I posted above… Though the reviews are mixed (due to difficulty of install it seems)
