The lava keeps flowing. Many home owners are nervous because when it comes to their door there is no turning it away!

I can’t even wrap my head around that…lave?!
It all seems so foreign to me.
Hope it stays on the projected path and doesn’t start a blaze along the way.
Do they do the community planning around projected lava flows?

    Honolulu,, Hi.

The Big Island is still growing and very active with eruptions. Every now and then we hear of the flow eating up some homes and sometimes it will go right 10feet from a home and not touch it. I really is a eye opener!

Well I just watched Pompeii and that would have been a bad place to be in. Volcanos can be pretty nasty when they are active.

It’s not like you can put them out with water.

I saw that on the news , that is pretty darn scary

Yikes – it is crazy to think I remember playing “don’t step on the lava” games as a young child – clearly it is way more serious than not stepping on the ground at the playground.

I hope it steers clear from the houses.

I was in Pompeii several years ago. we went through the city and hiked to the mouth of the crater. it was very surreal to walk through the city and see all of the sites and hear about the event.

I think sometimes you forget you are on Hawaii time… it was already 7:30am here – just woke up an got a start to my day 🙂 Sounds like you do need to get some sleep though 🙂

The explosion of this eruption in Papua New Guinea mind boggling.

That is crazy. They can be very pretty at night, though. Amazing to watch.

When weather comes it is sudden and quick. To just sit and watch the lava come and not be able to do anything about it has to be absolutely unnerving. Dirty, once it flows your way and hardens, does it have to find another path? Or does it come your way again? I suppose the answer will be – it depends.

I watched a documentary on the volcanoes in Hawaii. They were showing the lava flow in one neighborhood. It was surreal. One side of the street was destroyed homes and lava and on the other side was occupied homes. One house was still standing and in perfect shape except it was completely surrounded by the flow.

Yep…. We’ve got tornadoes and snow storms… And you’ve got lava, freaking lava.

That is crazy, we have pretty harsh winters but we can shovel and move it.
I hope it does keep veering away from homes.

Always learning, and some teaching along the way.

I have some relatives that live over there and they were posting some pics of the flow on their FB page…..scary stuff

I was on the big island in the 80s when one of the volcano’s was erupting. Went over to watch it for a while. Interesting.
