The Bosch 18V circ saw won’t ride on a Festool guide rail. I have the Makita guide rail which is interchangeable with the Festool and the circ saw won’t even come close to riding on the rail.

I have been scouring the internet trying to buy the Bosch rail and the closest I got was a $250 piece on Amazon. My search will continue.

John, yeah it was very satisfying using the jig. It’s like we were talking about on the tool thread where when you make a tool or a jig it brings a whole other level of satisfaction using it.

I haven’t had a chance to make the 45 degree blocks yet so I haven’t cut any mitres yet. I put all the trim in upside down since the bottom side is the cleanest cut with a circ saw.

I am PRETTY sure these guys ship to US, but it costs a bit of a pretty penny… And you would want to double check it works… BUT…

Yes John that is the one that I saw on Amazon, I just don’t know if its worth it to pay that much for a track or just save that money and get a real track saw.

Did you take a look at the link to the UK tool site? I THINK that track would work, and would be significantly less, assuming shipping wasn’t terrible…

Jason — there are some companies that will ship from the UK and one of them was offering a pretty good price on tracks. I would probably go there first. Another option is to see if Mafell rails would work and you can order one from Timberwolf Tools — they are not cheap, but less than the rail Amazon is selling.

Mafell rails are definitely high quality, but I might be more inclined to go festool if I am going to spend that much money on a rail and then find a way to make it work with the circ saw…

You could always run the saw next to the ribbing on the rail…not as “secure” as having it fit the rail and ribbing, but a thought.

Or you could use a level clamped to your work
Oh crosscut jig ,,,how did we get on to rails??
I like to keep a good plunge-track saw around.

That does seem the way to go Dirty. Saw the video on the improved Festool model.

Jason, I was thinking of rigging something up for my circ saw with a rail but I’m glad that I went with a real track saw. Once you’ve used one there is really no comparison with a circ saw.

I am thinking using a level or bar clamped to the material I am cutting would probably suffice for the work that I am planning on doing. I really like the idea of having a track for it but as you guys seem to agree it is just worth it to get a track saw.

What kind of cuts would you be making mostly Jason?

I would opt for a tracksaw if funds/need are there…it really makes using a table saw less of a need IMHO. super accurate and compact.

This thread deserves a bump for Dan’s sake. This is not quite a full-blown track option for the 18v circ, but it is a great little jig for making more accurate cuts with it.

    Hey woodman_412

Looks like someone else is doing your idea

Stealing my idea, how dare they! 😛 I’ve been noticing quite a few different circ saw cross cut jigs floating around youtube lately. Seems to be a popular thing to do. I’ve yet to see a design quite like mine though. It’s interesting that my circular saw cross cut jig has been by FAR my most popular video to date at 245K views.

I like that new saw also, but I also wanted to make Dans jig, I will probably try both.
