Ouch lol, Yeah my buddy says with the one he’s got (I forgot the brand) he insists on using a full face shield because of the flying hot chips
Right that is why I think the chip collector is a good idea. Sure you need to empty it but it saves hot chips flying all over the place.

Yes you are right. These chips are very dangerous. They get lodged in your snot trough and in your ear, very hot and leave a blister there. Blisters all over your arms. They can easily get around a safety glasses and in your eye then you have to stop work and go for the magnet.

Is it possible to remove the chip catch and just let em fly? Probably not a good idea though
I don’t think that would be a good idea. I think the chips would fly back at you.
Good point Sven. They probably want to contain the chips for various reasons.
I can see breathing hot metal chips being detrimental to you health. lol.

Hot metal is definitely not something I want flying around.

August 3, 2016 at 9:02 am #551298I agree, it would be horrible for any of that stuff to happen. Even though it has a chip catch, I still wore glasses, and would think that anyone with two cents would do the same as a minimum.
August 3, 2016 at 9:45 am #551304Fantastic review, I have been very impressed with Skil’s new metal saws that they have come out with.
August 4, 2016 at 7:32 am #551715These chips are very dangerous
I hate it when they go down your collar and get trapped on your back, ouch.

Another positive review on the Skillsaw metal cutter. Liked how both Sven and Robert commented on how this saw controls the chips which was/is a big problem when using other saws.

That is a good review. Too bad Robert is one of the many pros that have left the site. He is a very highly respected steel deck builder. Well CaliDecks is also very highly respected deck builder that left too. Man it looks like a lot of very good pros have left.

Nice find Bill. I was curious how the chip collector came off and on.

I was curious about that as well and the video shows it nicely you can also sight the sight window that allows you to follow a line. It allows to see the tool in action and up close. Oh and it has a really good warranty as well.
