BTP-repellingIt’s time for a road trip.  Our Pro Siberian is participating in the Over the Edge for Beatitude House event that features hundreds of folks raising money for this amazing charity (see below) by repelling down the tallest building in Youngstown, OH.

The event runs on both Friday, Sept. 25th and Sat. the 26th.

You can learn more about the event here: http://www.overtheedgeytown.com.  Make sure to LIKE them on FB.

Jim, our BTP admin and community manager will be in attendance to cheer Siberian on (even with his arm being bitten by a dog, he is still rappelling).  We want to invite anyone who is in the area to try to make it to the event.

BeThePro will sweeten the pot and be handing out t-shirts and other swag to all of our members who show up.  You just have to email Jim and let him know your t-shirt size.

Friday we will be hanging out during the day with Siberian and the other event VIP’s.  Friday night we are thinking about finding a fun place to hang out at and have some food

and beverages.  Anyone have a favorite hangout in Youngstown, maybe some BBQ, maybe music, Baggo?  Suggest a place and we will make a group decision on where we can meetup on Sat. night.

On Saturday morning, we are planning an excursion to what we are told is the largest hardware store in America (well at least in Ohio).  Right now we are finalizing the details, but am thinking about some hands on time with tools and maybe even a few “competitions” to see which tools can do what.  In any case, we’ll have a good time and hang out with some real tool guys.

Saturday afternoon will be back at the Over The Edge event, or maybe take in some additional mid-Ohio attractions.

All BTP community members, their friends & family, co-workers, wives and significant others are welcome to join us.

If you think you can attend, send Jim a note at bethepro@bethepro.com and make sure to put in the subject Over the Edge in Ohio.

We look forward to seeing you there and passing out some newly minted swag for our faithful members, as well as having some great times talking about the thing we love the most – Being the Pro.

If anyone wants to travel and stay overnight, here is a short list of hotels that may be available during the dates above:

Holiday Inn Youngstown-South (Boardman)

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Youngstown W – I-80 Niles Area

Fairfield Inn Youngstown Boardman/Poland

If we can all stay at the same hotel that could also be interesting as well.

This should be a really fun event.  If anyone has suggestions for Friday night or other hotels or even other things to do while we are there, please post it in the comments below.  Or go to this thread to post up if your coming and any suggestions for Friday night or hotels, or just anything you want to add.

There are several good places to eat in Youngstown. For those who like BBQ, Charlie Staples (http://charliestaplesbbq.com/) is a Youngstown institution; they also have non-BBQ menu items for those who aren’t fans of BBQ. For the seafood lover there is the Youngstown Crab Company (http://www.youngstowncrabco.com/). Cassese’s MVR (no website) is another Youngstown tradition – great Italian food and has been open since 1927, they also have Bocce courts for those who know the game. There are also a wide variety of other restaurants, including many national and regional chains.

    Other attractions include:

The Butler Museum of American Art – http://butlerart.com/

Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor (The Steel Museum) – https://www.ohiohistory.org/visit/museum-and-site-locator/youngstown-historical-center-of-industry-and-labor

Hollywood Gaming and Racetrack – http://www.hollywoodmahoningvalley.com/Racing

Rust Belt Brewing Company (has a drafthouse and restaurant) – https://www.rustbeltbrewing.com/home.html
